Sonic The...

So, I'm seriously considering a pet hedgehog and was wondering if anyone here has one or has any experience with them and could provide some info/opinions. Or not.

Re: Sonic The...

um... just because you found one in your garden, doesn't mean you should really keep one as a pet...

I've never seen one here.

Where the hell did that come from?

I live in England now, by the way. It's super exciting.

Re: Sonic The...

in this country we call it a garden.

and are you sure you don't get hedgehogs?
try putting some dog/cat food out.
this is about the right time of year for them.
mind the foxes though...

Re: Sonic The...

Why do you hate foxes so much? They're kinda cuddly, in a non-hedgehog way.

Re: Sonic The...

And even if I could catch one here, it wouldn't be domesticated. So the likelihood of it wanting to snuggle in my camping chair (I've yet to get a couch) is nil.

I thought you were going to show this opcorn:

My nephew had one and from what I remember they are rather shy creatures and like to roll up in a ball. They are a sight to look at.

I don't understand how they live here as everything I've read about them says they're only comfortable in temperatures above 70 degrees and if it goes lower then that they'll try to hibernate and probably die.

As long as they are kept inside a home that remains above 65 or so they should be fine. I'm in NY and I know of some people that have them as pets. (We only get above 70 degrees a couple months out of the year ). They are kept in a small cage and the homes are heated when it's cool outside and they do just fine. They seem to be a less demanding(responsibility) pet than a cat or dog.
