Question 2002 Intrigue GX -- couple of problems..

Hello everyone -- I visit from time to time and glean info from you guys so i'm hoping you can help me out.

I have a 2002 Intrigue GX -- 115,000 miles (it's a great condition for having such high milage)..my first question is about a "vacuum hose". The SES light came on and threw code P0410B, which was a loose hose, the mechanic put the hose back in place and said there's no clamps for this certain hose, so vibration can loosen it. Of course, a week later the SES light popped back on, so I'm thinking the hose came loose again. Is there a way to keep the hose on? Or does it just need a new one?

Second question -- Most of the time, I have to jiggle the key to start the car..lately though when I've turned the key, the car won't stay 'started', if that makes sense..and I've had the car actually shut off on me while driving. Is this a bad ignition switch or some sort of security thing?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Code P0410B has to do with the emissions system that pumps gasoline vapors back into the airstream. But it is possible that a hose from that system came loose. As for keeping the hose on, there are some pretty small hose clamps available, and if it were me personally, I wouldn't be above using a dab of superglue or duct tape haha. You should be sure the hose is the problem first though.

The second one definitely sounds like the ignition switch, do you have a SECURITY light on? The security system is built into the ignition switch anyway. But its usually not a security issue unless that light comes on.

What do your dash lights look like when the car wont crank? Are they all lit up? Or just a couple.

They all light up, just like when you start it. No security light -- only time I see it is when I start the car, with all the other lights. When I had the car shut off on me, it just stopped dead. no lights and the guages died. I put it in park and it started right up.

LOL @ super glue, believe me I thought about it.
