Transfer case control module
I just replaced this module in my 2005 Sub. The old one was burnt up. The new one does not function. No lights or activity. Will this TCCM have to be flashed with a tech 2 scanner?

Re: Transfer case control module
Welcome to AF.
First thing why did the old one burn up? Have you check power and ground to the module? Any flashing lights or Any codes? Does any button lights light up key on bulb check?

Re: Transfer case control module
The old one burnt up b/c wife left sunroof open during rain storm. Water got in the plastic case and fried it. Several other things had problems, but a dehumidifer and letting it run with the heat on for a while seemed to solve those issues. The switch is good, I swapped one from my duramax and hers works fine in my truck. No lights will come on with new TCCM. The burnt one would still light up the 2HI, but would not shift into any other range.
The actuator also would work when plugged in to my duramax. Power and grounds seem to be fine. Thanks |

Re: Transfer case control module
Double check all power and grounds and all fuses.
It should light up button lights for a key on bulb check. Get a transmission capable scanner on it and check things out. If not working there should be some codes and also some test on it can be done threw scanner. If the one TCCM is the same no on duramax try it on it. Good Luck

Re: Transfer case control module
I took it to the dealer and after 10 minutes of programming, the module was up and running. He said new modules have no data at all and must be programmed. Now the lights operate like normal and 4 wd functions perfectly. It is hard to believe that the key on bulb check will not work until programmed.
Anyway, thanks for the posts. |

Re: Transfer case control module
You are welcome and thanks for posting back how it went.
I am with you the thing should have had a light working on it. Also if it has to be reprogrammed the dealer should do that when you by it.

Re: Transfer case control module
I agree they should program it. It may have something to do with they want all the pie. I priced the TCCM module from the dealer I purchased the suburban from and it was $324.00. They said they would program it for $60.00. ........$384.00.
I bought one from a dealer I did not purchase the vehicle from for $170.00 and they programmed it for $54.00. I don't believe I will be purchasing again from the orginal dealership. |
