2001 Explorer No 4WD
My 2001 Explorer will not go into 4WD. The indicator lights on the dash do not light up when I turn the switch. No engagement of the 4WD is occuring. No power at the switch. Diagnostic scanner will not link up with 4X4 computer. Do I need to replace the 4WD module? Motor on the tranfer case? please help, winter will be here before we know it.

Re: 2001 Explorer No 4WD
First thing to do is to get a test light and check all fuses to be sure there is current on both sides. Since you stated there is no current at the switch, start with the most obvious and least expensive.

Re: 2001 Explorer No 4WD
I have a similar issue seems like the begining of your problems. When i switch into 4x4 my light on the dash will flick on and off the whole time while driving, with a click ( relay sound) coming from underneath the passenger's side of the dash. Did you ever resolve your problems?? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
