broken windshield washer hose
My girlfriend's 2000 cavalier has a broken windshield washer hose. It looks as if the hose, which runs diagonally across the corner of the battery, was melted. It may also have been eaten away with battery acid. Anyway I am not quite sure what the deal is, because she said that she originally had a problem, and a mechanic told her that her hoses were rotten. She then went ahead and told the mechanic to fix the problem. I told her not to go back to a mechanic and let me try to solve the problem. I had someone tell me that the alternator might be running too hard and causing the battery to leak acid, because there are some areas on the battery where it looks like acid has squeezed out. So the problem might be that the battery is getting too hot and melting the hose. If that is the case, I will need to reroute the hose around the battery. Either way I still need some advice on how to fix the hose. Thanks a lot.

Re: broken windshield washer hose
If your battery is getting hot enough to melt plastic, that usually is a sign its on its way out.
