97 SL manual trans won't start
Hello, I am having trouble getting my 97 SL started. Manual transmission. It won' t even turn over. Everything on the car works-- lights windows, radio, ect. I have checked all the fuses and relays. I have jumped the two posts on the starter and the starter engages. The car stays running after I push it down the hill and pop the clutch. I tested all the posts at the solenoid when someone turns the ignition to the start position and none other than the wire directly from the battery is hot. What concerns me is that I am not getting any power into the switch on the clutch, either purple or yellow when the ignition is on or turned to the start position. I sense this might be the problem but I can't seem to trace this back to a fuse. Please help.

Re: 97 SL manual trans won't start
No power going into the clutch switch correct?
Check the wires going from the ignition switch. make sure they are all pushed in tight to there sockets. A little jiggling may also help. IIRC you do not have keyless entry correct? Do you have any after market system installed?

Re: 97 SL manual trans won't start
So the ignition has a hot wire that runs to the clutch switch? I will check this out. Thanks!

Re: 97 SL manual trans won't start
Should be pretty easy to figure out with a starting cuircuit wiring diagram.
