1998 Saturn SL2 flickering dash panal lights

I just noticed mydash panal lights have
been flickering.
Does this mean something
is loose?
I turned the car on and it was dead then itook the key out and the lights came on, the car started.

NOt sure if there is a loose connection some where or maybe the starter going bad?

Thanks

Check the dimmer switch. It may be a bad contact there. If not, you may need to remove the cluster and inspect the connections on the back.

Also, check your battery connections.
I had the dash light flicker, and it was the neg of the battery lose.
But it started fine
