Question Best Synthetics For Winter?

Winter is coming and this will be my first winter with my own truck. 97 Dodge Dakota with V6 and 164425mi. Engine runs fine. Im running Valvoline Full Synthetic 10W-30 now. But once winter comes im either going to switch to Valvoline DURAblend 10W-30, or Valvoline Full Synthetic MaxLife 10W-30. But if anyone with more experiance has any better suggestions, let me know. Im pretty loyal to Valvoline. Since using their oils ive gone from 16 mpg to 18 mpg. I make a lot of short trips so synthetics are all i can use really.

I like Valvoline products too. With your mileage, I'd go with one that was best suited for older high mileage vehicles. I don't think that any that you listed would be a bad choice.

I actually use Royal Purple.

Of the brands listed I wouldn't buy anything other than Valvoline for conventional oil. However, you can't buy a better oil for the money than the Mobil 1, even if it's not a pure synthetic.

Don't forget to pair it with a good filter.

Im a fan of the Castrol GTX for the dino oil. IT just seemed the best when my car was burning a lot of it (an RX-7, designed to burn oil )
