4.0L Oil Pressure Sender
How complicated is replacing the oil pressure sender on a 4.0L? Do I need to drain the oil to do it?
Thanks! JD 97 Sahara |

Re: 4.0L Oil Pressure Sender
i think the oil pressure sensor is located around the general area of the ..... the ..... the rotating thing that sends a high tension current to the plugs via a think wire (can't think of the word for it) its not hard of a replacement but you will want to change you oil after wards just to be safe

Re: 4.0L Oil Pressure Sender
He's right, it is indeed located just under that round doohicky with the long thin thingies coming out of it.
No need to drain the oil to replace the sender. You may lose a drop or two but thats about it. The oil sending unit looks sorta like a sparkplug. Just unplug it at the connector and find a deep well socket that fits it and unscrew it from the side of the block. Why are you replacing it? A sure sign that its bad is if your oil pressure pegs on the max side of the guage. |
