Buying a mid-late 90's dodge 4x4

I am getting ready to buy a mid-late 90's 4x4 dodge to tow a bass boat and take hunting. Are there any known issues or specific problems I should look for? Questions that should be asked? Any help would be appreciated

I don't know when the 4.7L engine was introduced but with my recent experience with them, I would stay away from that engine.

Re: Buying a mid-late 90's dodge 4x4

4.7 was introduced in 2002 (in the ram) and have some examples over 200,000 miles. It is such a new motor (came out in 2000 grand cherokee) that alot of high mileage hasn't been reached yet.

so the trucks you are looking have the 3.9,5.2,5.9 which are all legendary motors.
