1996 Civic Engine Info

Hey All, I Just Bought A 1996 Civic Ex That Needs Some Engine Work And Was Wondering Where To Find The Engine Model Etc...m The Ownwes Maunal Says It Should Have The Vtec Installed. Should The Valve Cover Say Vtec On It Or Not? The Timing Belt Cover Says D16y8 I Think But Will The Cover Fit Other Engines? I Just Need To Know Which Gasket Set And Piston Rings To Buy. Also It Is Using Some Oil And The Compression On Number 2 Cyl Is 30 Psi Less Than The Other Three. On These Engines Are The Cylinder Walls Usually Ok To Just Hone And Put New Rings In? Or Are The Walls Usually Worn? Any Help Will Be Appreciated Thanks A Bunch
