5 speed manual tranny noise
Hello,
I have a 2000 Ford Explorer sport (2Wheel Drive). At a stop with the clutch in, it makes a sssSSSSSSsssSSSSSSsssSSSS with a few clickie grinding sounds when the stick is in second or fourth. It gets louder when you pull the stick back after it is in the gear. Sounds like it is up front in the tranny, and is not the throw out bearing. Anyone have that experience with this kind of sound before that can give me a hint before I tear into it? Thanks |

Re: 5 speed manual tranny noise
first thing i would do is check the fluid in the trany. also how many miles do you have on it and what is your driving style? it could possiby be a craked clutch disk or bent fingers on the pressure plate.
