Upgrading Bumpers & Headlights

I have a 1991 Metro Hatchback and I have black bumpers. I have seen some with painted bumpers. What year or model did those come on? I also seen the same body style Metro's with headlights that weren't sealed beams and were like a newer car w/ replaceable bulbs. Can I just change the headlights for a newer year or is it a process like changing fenders, hood??? Please anyone with this info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roger

Re: Upgrading Bumpers & Headlights

I have a 94 with the painted bumpers, shey should fit straight on to yours. I changed my sealed beams with upgraded white lights. I had to change the plug with some from the junk yard. make sure you wire them correctly. I do like the white lights alot better and brighter. I got the lights off of ebay any lights that are 4 by 6 will fit. I also have another set with one of them cracked and the light bulbs are missing you can have themif you want with shipping. the crake is on the top of the lense and not the face. pm me if you are interested and want a pic. plus i could send pics of the plug pluged into mine.

Re: Upgrading Bumpers & Headlights

Painted bumpers and flush combination lights weren't a year thing, they were a trim line thing.

XFI all black bumpers and sealed beams
Base black bumper with painted top section and sealed beams
LSI painted bumper and combination lamps

All will interchange, you need to get the wiring if you change the lamps. Most of the flush lamps are quite yellow by now though, you should consider that drawback, they all do it. If you change the hood and bumpers to the Swift type, they came with glass combination lamps in Europe.

Re: Upgrading Bumpers & Headlights

Ok, Great.. Here's the thing about the bumpers. I need to have smooth bumpers because I do digital vehicle wraps. I need to wrap the bumpers w/ an adhesive back 3M sticker basically and it can't have any texture like my XFI unpainted black bumpers have now. So, do I look for 91 LSI Bumpers?? from What years will the bumpers and headlight fit on my 91 XFI? Thanks in advance... you guys ROCK!

Re: Upgrading Bumpers & Headlights

89 - 91 (mk2) are identical, 92 - 94 (mk3) are a little different, but will bolt right on. Headlights are the same 89 - 94.
