Smile What car should I Buy?

I've had access to a maxima, I have fallen in love with it. I will be buying a "good" car when I turn 18. I can get a cosign on a loan, im all good. I need some opinions to help me choose. If any of you have some first hand experience "seen a race Maxima vs. GTP" please help me.

It's a VERY close call.

97-99 Nissan Maxima
or...
98-00 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Please if you know tell me which one is overall faster, acceleration, top speed anything that will help me decide. Anything you know about it.

GTP has a supercharger and has like 4 major mods i know of....

Maxima Has dohc and every mod possible......

HELP ME!!!

Theres details about the maxima and GTP and my current car at this page.

I have a poll on that page too.

It all deppends if you want a manual tranny or auto. Dont know about you, but Im with imports ONLY, so there wouldnt be a way that I would go for a domestic car, esspecially Pontiac. I guess it comes with S/C from factory? If so then your insurance will be higher because of that. I'd go for a maxxie, definetly. As the matter of fact, Im getting another maxxie this July. Imma get either 99 SE black, or if possible I'll go for SE-L Cherry red. manual tranny ofcourse. If you will get a maxima, try to get it with low milage, so you will still have manufacturer warranty. Hope this helps. Later

yeah dude, he's right about the insurance, you will be kicking yourself in the ass later on for that one...supercharger=lots of insurance, ESPECIALLY for a male 18 year old. max will give you more reliability, near equal performance (with 5 speed), more luxury, better looks, and will be simply more satisfying to drive, not to mention easier to mod. but hey, i'm an import guy, too, so i'm biased :sun:

I'd get...

-----GRAND PRIX GTP
Door: 2 Door
Transmission: Automatic "only made with automatic"
Engine: Factory Supercharged 3.8 V6
Specs: 240 Horsepower, 280 Torque.

or

-----MAXIMA SE
Door: 4 Door
Transmission: 5-Speed
Engine: 3.0 dohc V6
Specs: 190 Horsepower, 205 Torque.

Ok i've calculated out some stuff you might want to know.

------------------97-01 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP---95-99 Nissan Maxima SE

Well posting in a maxima forum will defintely get a bias answer. Get a 4th gen maxima 5 speed. Autos are dogs of the line. They are very reliable and there aftermarket parts are growing. A growing number of maxima owners already have a nice turbo setup for the 4th gen maxima.
