crane hi 6 and jacobs ign problems

hi, this has gotta be the weirdest problem i`ve ever come acrosss , i`ve fitted aftermarket efi systems and built electronic ign kits etc...
anyways, fitted a crane hi 6 to a 360 chrysler with reluctor type distributor.
got no spark , power getting ( led) to unit , and also you can hear a highish pitched squeal coming from unit ( assume high voltage ok in unit ?) . took dist out , and turn it over by hand , still nothing , the crane hi 6 is receiving pulse from dist ( led flashing ).

then i disconnected it all from the car , sat it on the bench and powered it all up via car battery, still the same.
one thing i noticed is that when power is first applied the power led is on , but when the dist is turned it goes out , but still shows the pulse being received.

had the proper crane coil , and another connected up plus another dist , still nothing.

then i tried a jacobs mileage master on the bench , got spark at first , but now it hardly sparks at all,.( what i mean is that the spark is not always there )
when i first apply power to the unit , i get a spark , then SOMETIMES when i start turning the dist , it might spark for a couple of turns , might spark for longer or not at all.
even when its not sparking , the pulse led on jacobs unit shows that its receiving pulse ( flashing of/on) i also tried the other 2 coils and dist.

i cannot for the life of me figure whats wrong all wires are good and connections.

MAYBE i come across some faulty coils ? to much load on units ?
