cd changers no good

well the lincolns been fixed for some months now, brand new front suspension really is wonderful. but now all of a sudden my cd changer messes up. not the first time.

i fixed it the last couple times but i really don't even feel like messin with it. i have been unable to find any info on it by searching hi and lo on the part/serial #. sony has zip on it, ford likewise.

the ford part # is f7vf-18c830-ab. the serial # is 12873. so far this information has been useless. anybody know anything about these? i have pretty extensive knowledge and skill at electronic repair but this cd changer is really messing me up. i had it all apart earlier inspecting the gears/moving parts. got fed up with it and had to leave it alone.

don't even feel like messing with it. is ebay or the junk yard my only option of obtaining another stock 10 disk changer?

CD's are designed for home enertainment not the Auto.

I would put them with all those free AOL cds.

All the latest + Greatest isn't the most reliable.

If you want to carry a playlist with you,the IPOD might be the best way to go.

thanks for the reply man. yea right now i see 1 on ebay. i am a lil concerned tho because this particular cd changer came out of a 93 and has some strange metal box attached to it. otherwise it looks to be about a perfect match. maybe theres a way i could make it work, as theres a bnib one.

before giving up on mine i did put some of my electronics expertise to use. i had the old changer taken apart and discovered that the arm that pulls the disc into the changer was stuck out. i damn near had the thing fixed until i broke that particular gear. other than that that wouldn't have been a sure fix, because theres sensors in there and little switches that engage certain actions and these little push in switches were worn/broken. even if i could've tracked down the parts who wants to spend a month soldering?

Used parts will not last long?

10 year old parts:

Plastic,rubber,and Gaskets are unstable and mechnical parts are
already worn.

The cd changer has Mechanical issues that will wear out!

He has issues on his car and all of a sudden,he is giving Advice!
