Fan Clutch To Electric Fan Conversion
I have been thinking of putting an electric fan on my 86 T-Bird with the 3.8 V6. The hope is to increase performance a little to hopefully increase gas mileage. There are many combinations of fans out there from dual fans to large single fans. I was thinking of a pusher type of setup in front of the condenser to keep the heat from the condenser and radiator cooking the fan. Has anybody any personal experience in installing an electric fan on this type of vehicle? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Fan Clutch To Electric Fan Conversion
Welcome fasthauler. Many of the manufacturers have their own websites that you can go to to get information. Most of them will have a "Contact Us" button to click on so that you can ask them questions by email or they may have a technical hotline you can call. If you don't know who makes them then first go to places like Summitracing.com or other vendors that sell speed equipment to see who the manufacturers are.

Re: Fan Clutch To Electric Fan Conversion
Thanks for the response 97Bird. I have a slew of catalogues on electric fans. My problem is my lack of trust in someone is trying to sell me something. That is why I was hoping someone one here, besides a salesman, has had some personal experience in installing one on their own vehicle.

Re: Fan Clutch To Electric Fan Conversion
I understand your concern, fasthauler! I research things to death before I actually buy anything. You might get more responses in the Mustang forum since more of them get modified and the info can still be applied to your Bird. SCCOA.com is another site you could try. There are tons of other Mustang sites you could check out. Just Google Mustang forum. I bet you don't like filling the tank for that 460! Good luck and I hope someone responds that has done this swap.
