injector seals
Hey Guys, I am in need of some advise. I need to replace the seals on the injector on my car. I bought them today at work and I never have done this before on a 4.6. There is a coned shape device that came with them. I thought you just slide them off and slide the news ones on, then I was told you have to use a lube to put them on. Like Vaseline. Has any one done this before? Thanks..
Bryan

Re: injector seals
Vaseline is good if you have nothing else, even plain old motor oil will work. I usually use STP or a good all purpose grease with graphite in it. Greased, it goes on so much easier and is less likely to "scuff" the seal.
Good luck and have fun, Stan

Re: injector seals
Sense the fuel Injectors are already out,you might want to consider ''out of
car Injector service''. A diesel shop can clean, blow out,and check the flow rate of each injector. CAUTION - Becarful ,I have seen extra seals jammed in the fuel rail. I guess ,the seals are like trying to put a small condon on! MCGIVER Last edited by danielsatur; 09-15-2008 at 08:17 AM. |
