Temp Sensor

I have a 95 blazer 4.3w. Are there 2 temp sensors if so where are they located. If I have my computer hooked up and reading coolant temp it is different that the dash reading by as much as 40 degrees. How can I tell which one is right.

Thanks

Three altogether if you count the air tempt sensor.

The pcm tempt sensor is usuall around the thermo stat.
The engine tempt gauge sender may be in cylinder head.
Air temp sensor in intake air duck.

After warmed up what does the dash gauge read?

A good infared themometer will tell you what one is right.

Re: Temp Sensor

Always err on the side of caution and assume the one that is reading the hottest is the right one. I assume the one that is reading hot is the guage....follow MT's advice, drivers side head, right around cylinder# 3 spark plug.

Re: Temp Sensor

After it warms up the computer will always be higher. Are both sensors the same part number.

Re: Temp Sensor

No they are different.

Get a themometer on it and find out which one is off.
