That really sucks for that guy. I had a similar problem with the Z but I figured it out in less than a minute. I took a Z for a test drive with my buddy one day. Well I decided I would be smart and turn around on a small country lane with ditches on both sides. Well I went to perform a three point turn and could not get the car into reverse. It turned out you had to push down on the shifter to get it to go in reverse. I was not accustomed to this since I do not have to do it in my 6spd Beemer.
