1996 Jetta Tranny problem

I have a 96 Jetta with a 2.0 with auto trans. My problem is the shift indicator is not reading correctly and the car is not shifting right either. I used a scan tool and retreived code P0715. I purchased a new neutral switch (multi function switch) and replaced it but it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
