97 Pontiac sun fire 2.2L OHV will not start
My son bought a 97 Pontiac sun fire 2.2L OHV that had a bad trimming change and the car has been sitting for 3 years .we replace the trimming change and the car will not start or even back fire I check for spark we have that I pour gas in the throttle body and still nothing. What could be wrong with it?

3 year old gas is more than likely no good, drain and fill with some fresh stuff. If it still doesn't start pull a plug and see if it has gas on it.

Re: 97 Pontiac sun fire 2.2L OHV will not start
Do not mean to offend but if your not very experienced you can screw up the car pretty bad by throwing it out of timing. Did you pull a plug to see if fuel is reaching it? It would be a good idea to change plugs, wires, filters and oil on a car that has been sitting for three years. If you can scan it for codes the problem may still be stored.

i put new plugs in the car, car gas a good spark it's getting air so you would think by spraying starting Fluid in it would do something even a back fire would be nice at this point. could it still have a spark with a bad crank senor or cam sensor being bad ?

Re: 97 Pontiac sun fire 2.2L OHV will not start
"I believe" The cam sensor has something to do with the position of the piston in relation to when the injector is fired just before the intake is opened, if it is bad your plugs should be dry after you have tried to start it....The crank sensor monitors timing based on the speed of the crank shaft if it is bad the car will probably not start. If someone can explane this better please feel free. Hope this helps.
