RE : Radio Installed.....was working now not ?

Hi ppl's im new to this forum and i hope you can help because im lost
the car in question is a 2002 golf 1.4 petrol ...

It had a pioneer cd player installed by a audio company here in ireland
but we bought the car off a friend and they wanted it back,

I then took out the radio and installed our own radio first it worked then my girl friendnotices the memmory was'nt holding so i took out the radio to check the wires and they looked like there all connected except on the car harness theres a extra wire but then it all went wrong i turn ignition on and radio wont come on ....if you turn the car lights on the radio lights up but when you turn the the ignition on it flashes and stays off .

Also i re connected the pioneer radio back up and it wont come on either,

Any ideas welcome as im getting the blame for well something i though would be simple :P
