97 taurus issue plz help

I let my girlfriends friend take out the car not to long ago. She says its over heating but today I checked it out. The temperature gauge is near the cool reading after letting idle for about 10 to 15 minutes. There is antifreeze in the car, the motor oil is full and the transmission oil is full.

The car is running very very rough, noting seems to be leaking. When I put it into drive, it gets even more rough seems like its about to stall out but then kicks in, but runs more rough while in drive than running on idle. The only thing i see it a white cloud of smoke that putts out for the exhaust. Not to sure what the problem could be. Anyone have any ideas?

for what ever reason it sounds like its running on 5 instead of 6 cylinders.you will need to find what cyl isnt firing.you can remove plug wire from coil 1 at a time to see what cylinder isnt firing.then find out why!!look at plug, ck wire/coil.the white smoke usually indicates water/anti-freeze is being entered into cylinder but would loose fluid for radiator.you say anti-freeze is ok.ck. out the basics to find out where problem is & get back to us
btw if you have a cloud coming out exhaust you have a blown head gasket

Ya its pretty much just a white puff of smoke and its like putting. So if its a head gasket the car is worthless.

does it puff white smoke all the time or just on start up??no just because you have a bad head gasket does'nt mean its junk!!how many miles what engine do u have?

Just while its running and it has about 77k on it. V6

is it 3.0L OR 3.8L pull spark plugs look at them & crank engine with them removed you will proboly see anti-freeze or wetness coming out plug hole

You can chech the presure of the anti-frezz,if the anti-frezz can't flow freely tin the engine ,the engne will warm up,and also can make noise .
