plans for my car....

ok... heres what im thinking about doing with my car. Im getting a thermal full-catback exhaust, eibach sportline springs(1.8"), and KYB AGX gas shocks installed within a couple days, im just waiting for the exhaust to get in. Im probably going to get 17" konig Rated-R's (white) in about a month or so(as soon as the snow and stuff goes away). Then i have to make some money because i have just enough for the stuff i just listed. I'm getting a job at shaws until the summer comes along because i work at a water park for a summer job. I have an HX and it is SLOW. I want to do a swap... originally i was tihnking GSR but those are rather expensive. why pay almost a grand more for 10HP? i can get an SiR engine for $$2350.00 or a GSR for $$3199.00. I mean 160HP vs. 170HP isnt that much of a difference. Why pay the extra money for a GSR engine? So anyways thats my plan... i should have plenty of money by the end of the summer. ill probably like get white grills for it and maybe a cheap system. but all that comes after the swap. Do you think what im doing is a good idea? Any suggestions would be great!

The JDM SIR is going to be a 1st gen B16a which means it will be a 90-91 motor. I know lots of people who have gotten ripped on these. So you could spend a little extra on a motor thats not 13 years old plus the B18c has stronger internals.

The 92-00 SIRII has 170 hp just like the USDM GSR. SIRG(JDM GSR) has 180hp

get gsr motor...b16's in coupes=not impressive. raced my frien w/ i/e in a 94 coupe, an i can stomp on him w/ my simple mods. i say get the b18, better internals, lil bigger displacement, an jus a better base to work from.

its not all about the hp either. the gsr engine has a lot more torque and a lot more potential. ive seen naturally aspirated gsr motors putting out 250hp. a b16 could never do that without a turbo. and if you turbo the gsr motor youd get a lot more out of it too. so think, is that 800 difference between the motors really the deciding factor? cant you just wait for one more paycheck? think about it

Why isn't a B16 impressive compared to a B18C? If you mean originality wise a B18C swap is just as common. HP wise SIR II has the same. Torque wise, torque in a 4 banger can't even and shouldn't be mentioned unless you want to be laughed at. Potential wise.....I agree a GSR has more but there's a lot of possibilities.

Okay you just about listed all the exceptions to the rule. Don't get me wrong I love my B16 but I will admit it.............Honda does not = torque.
If it did people wouldn't be LS/VTEC or CRVTEC.
