06 Impala Power steering
I just picked up an 06 with a 3.5 engine. I have heard that the power steering hose has a tendancy to pop out. Is this a common occurance with these cars? Mine seems to have poppes out. Its under waranty, so its not a big deal. Jsut wondering if this is something I have to watch for in the future.

Re: 06 Impala Power steering
There has a been a few occurrences where the Power Steering hose has blown on 06+ Impalas. You'll be driving along and all of a sudden You'll have a hell of a time trying to turn your steering wheel. So ya as long as you under warranty, its not that common but it could happen.

Re: 06 Impala Power steering
they are telling me it was a pinhole leek on the power steering hose. I'm not sure I beleave it was a "pinhole" (I poured some fluid in and watched it come out) but it was fixed under warranty so it doesn't matter.
They also fixed a sensor on top of the gas tank that was telling me the gas cap wasn't closed. Can't imagine what it would cost to fix that guy if I had to pay for it (i'm assuming you have to drop the gas tank). |

Re: 06 Impala Power steering
Looks like I am experiencing this issue right now on my 06. I was driving along and all of a sudden I could barely turn the wheel. Looks like all the fluid is pissin' out. Unfortunately I think I am out of warranty coverage for this (60k). I dont really want to get it towed to the dealer, but I will if it means getting fixed right. Any idea on how much something like this is going to run me?

Re: 06 Impala Power steering
None. This should not be a difficult repair. All you need to do is get a new power steering hose, take the old one off, and put the new one on. Should not be difficult. I didn't bother since I was under warranty.

Re: 06 Impala Power steering
Yes, it was pretty cheap. Like $10 for parts plus labor.
Hopefully this doesn't happen again. |
