2000 GMC Jimmy 6 disk changer not working.
I filled the changer with disks (yes they are in the correct way), and the changer cycles through them like it will play them, and the little disk icon appears on the radio screen. But no matter which buttons I push, it wont play them. Ive looked through the instruction manual, and it says to push the "CD/AUX" button. But i dont have a CD/AUX button on my radio. i do however have a Tape/AUX and when I push that it obviously only works the cassette player. so now im beginning to think (since I bought the car used) that either the 6 disk changer, or head unit was installed just before i bought the car.
Does anyone know how to make it work?, or was it installed previous to me buying it? I can post pics of the head unit, and changer if anyone need them. thanks. |

Re: 2000 GMC Jimmy 6 disk changer not working.
Theres probably a problem with the changer itself. I have a 2000 jimmy with the Bose head unit and changer in the center console, the Tape/Aux button is correct. The changers are known to go bad from time to time.

Re: 2000 GMC Jimmy 6 disk changer not working.
I have a 6 disc in my center console too and it works great. I pulled out my radio one day because I was going to put in a aftermarket radio and noticed that the disc changer plugs into the radio in the back with a normal wire connection. It does not use the stander red and white audio plugs. Check your contacts and see if they are tight and also check if the contacts are clean they do get corroded on occasion. Good luck
