Re: turn on high beams and starter engages
my thought is that there is some kind of short in the steering column between the hi beam circuit and the key switch circuit. You might need professional help to solve this one.

Re: turn on high beams and starter engages
Interesting, didn't think of the steering column. Its going into the the caddyshack today. The service writer didn't believe it either. Will report back when they (hopefully) solve it.
A couple other tidbits I got out of the owner. It only happens at night (with lights on) and he uses the automatic lights on feature. I never had a car with that option so I don't have a clue about that cirucuit. Stay tuned Gary |

Re: turn on high beams and starter engages
Now it appears that the issue is indeed an intermittent problem (good call caddyfreak). After the first couple occurrences, the problem has gone away.
Neither the Cadillac service department nor the owner has been able to re-create the problem. It is real, trust me, wierd but real. Stay tuned, I am sure it will return. It always does..
