97 sierra r.v.mirror wire help
I cut the cab off my 93 3500HD and welded on a 97 sierra 4X4 extended cab. Where do I hook up the green and pink wires from the rear view mirror of the 97? The mirror has 2 buttons on it 'COMP|MIRROR' w/little window in the upper right corner. How does the mirror work and how do I calibrate it?

Re: 97 sierra r.v.mirror wire help
I believe that mirror has an intergated compass and auto-dimming feature. I don't know if the sensors/electronics to operate these features are inside the mirror housing. I would find a wiring diagram for a '97 and see if you can trace those back to a fuse block or other connection you can splice into your '93 chassis.
As for calibrating it haven't found anything yet...maybe holding one of the buttons down will start calibration and let you select a region (I'm drawing from my days as a Jimmy owner)? If I see anything I'll post...I'd suggest finding a 1997 Sierra owner's manual.

Re: 97 sierra r.v.mirror wire help
I have this mirror, I believe one wire is power and one is ground the chromatic and compass are self contained and I've never calibrated mine.
I always have a regular compass in the truck in addition. |
