wiring problem
I have a 88 honda civic standard model, i am having a problem with the car
the fuel pump doe not come on with key, u have to ground out the main relay i bought brand new or the fuel pump wires at the computer. for the fuel pump to work. my ? is, can i ground it out my self at the computer or the main relay to make the fuel pump work or will that cause more problems in future. if need more info please leave message.everything i have done to it: wiring : took dpfi wiring out, put in mpfi wiring from si, thats all of the wiring. computer : si computer engine : 1.5L D15B2 transmission : manual 5 speed interior : si dash, si seats, si lower interior, standard upper interior lights : took si tail lights exhaust : factory header don't know what it came of of, performance exhaust. wheels: 16 in getting ready to add rear window wiper. thanks, for the help if u can give any.

Have you taken the main relay out and taken it apart yet? Do that and check the connections inside of it, might just be bad connections. Just re-solder everything and try it.

bought a brand new relay, i don't think the old one was bad either.

Usually no need to buy a brand new one, just re-solder the old one.
I'm not exactly sure where the main relay grounds at OE, but if you can find it, I would check it. If not, I don't see a harm in grounding it, just so long as it still kicks on and off with the key as it should anyways.

the relay should be grounded through the mounting point... iirc... if not, it's the black wire under the dash right near it... if i had a cam on hand, i'd take a pic of what I"m talking about right now and upload it... but there is a ground wire somewhere close to the relay.
