95 Suburban power seat / keyless entry problem

My 95 burb's power seats and keyless entry are not working. I was sitting in the drivers seat and saw smoke coming from under the seat. Obviously thats a problem and I checked the power seat adjustment which did not work. The lumbar support works however. I checked the 30A circuit breaker for these systems which was extremely hot to the touch. I breaker was not tripped and checking the circuit there appears to be a short. The short disappears when I disconnect the connection under the seat for the seat. There is also a silver box under the seat connected to the seat frame which has a 10 pin connector which I assume controls the seat. My question is, would a short in the seat motor prevent the keyless entry from working. The power door locks also do not work and I hear a clicking under the dash when I press the door lock button. I cannot find a wiring diagram in two repair manuals that I have that cover the power seat system and the silver box. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 95 Suburban power seat / keyless entry problem

i have 95 with power seat that kept popping breaker fuse. finally found bare wires about 2 inches behind 6 way control buttons. unplug harness under seat, remove 2 screws, pull out. my wires were rubbing on track when seat moved. spliced in new wires, works. i think seats and locks are same breaker.

Re: 95 Suburban power seat / keyless entry problem

jetterboy-Thanks for responding. I did check the wires you mentioned and they were rubbed bare by the frame of the seat. I spliced new wires in and fixed that problem. I still have a short though. I don't think its in the seat. The keyless entry (power door locks) still doesn't work or the power seats. The power mirrors now don't work along with the interior lights. I have a door jamb switch I want to replace before i go chasing anything. Definitely feels like I'm chasing my tail. The mirrors appear to be on another circuit. I'll reply when I find out more.
