Is my taurus in overdrive?

My taurus does 2200rpm at 60mph is this normal? It is 24V DOHC.

Re: Is my taurus in overdrive?

That doesn't right off sound off, but I'd have to try mine first to be sure, though the one I have running is a 3.8, so it might be geared differently. Have you tried counting the number of gears it takes to get to that speed and rpm? What trans do you have? Have you read it off the bottom of the trans pan? Chances are all of these cars are 4sp counting the od. If it reaches the fourth gear or the third gear change from a stop, you're in od.
