Re: misfire cyl. 1

I would pull out the spark plug and check it if it looks good swap it with another like #3 plug, check the plug wire make sure it is not burnt or broken or croded ends and feel the wire the entire length see if there any hard spots in the wire when bending it. when the engine is running check for spark at that plug. if you did all that and it all seems to be good and you have spark run the scanner again see if you transfered the problem to #3 cyl if it did you have a bad plug if still mis fire cyl 1 most likely bad injector

Re: misfire cyl. 1

I could not tell you why it only comes on at idle unless you have a bad plug or bad or loose plug wire or possible bad coil pack. but first check for spark. you can pick up a cheep spark tester for like $5 bucks at any large auto parts store I usally see them in the $5.00 bin when you first walk in the store. or do the ole timer way remove the wire from the spark plug stick a #3 phillips into the boot of the plug HOLD IT BY THE HANDLE of the screwdriver hold the shank of the screwdriver 1/4 inch away from something metal that is grounded, have a helper start the car if a spark keeps jumping from the screwdriver to the grounded metal you have spark.

Sometimes changing the fuel injectors are easy some are a pain some are as easy as reliving the pressure in the fuel system, un bolt the fuel rail, pull out the bad injector. reverse to install. some are more involved. but if you are not fimailer with injectors or not comfertable doing it i HIGHLY recomend you take it to a mechanic.

Re: misfire cyl. 1

before you start to check for a bad coil pack check for spark at the plug wire. If you have a spark there the coil pack is good there are other reasons for mis fire other than no spark so try what i said in the last post and we will work from there. it is a good starting point to solve the problem

Re: misfire cyl. 1

Ok since it has spark then it is not a coil pack. did you replace the plug ? if you did the next thing is fuel and compression. getting a compression tester and checking it would be the next easy step. but most likely fuel problem check for loose plug on injector for that cyl or replace injector.
