Proportion Valve Leak
Hello all,
I have a bit of a situation. My proportion valve started to leak from the bleeder on my 2002 Sebring LX Sedan. I was wondering if anyone out there had this problem and how did you fix it? From what I found on the internet, there could be 2 "O" rings I could replace to fix the problem, but it’s just my speculation. I really don’t feel like spending 99.71 on a new proportion valve. Thanks a lot for any help. -Joe |

Re: Proportion Valve Leak
Just to Update on my Proportion Valve problem. I went to a local Junkyard and picked one up for $15. It worked out great, but I still wanted to know what the deal was with my old one. SO I took it apart :-) and this is what I found. You can replace just 2 " O " rings and it would stop the break leak from the bleeder valve. My small O Ring decided to fail on me and cause it to not have good seal and also to let dirt in... Thus... a leak...
This is a pic of the O rings and the unit inside of the valve, the two O rings at the top are extra i had, the two that are close are the ones from the unit. If you look closely you can see the little O ring is kinda funky looking.. ![]() This is a close up of the golden piston inside the valve, as you can see there is a black ring, that is where the O ring failed to seal and cause a leak from the bleeder, ![]() This is a pic of the Bleeder, you can see grime and junk inside... also not helping it seal....at all..... :-) ![]() And this is what the unit looks like all assembled inside the aluminum block.... *Note the yellow retainer is not correct... it needs flipped around, I hope this helps anyone out there with the same problem I had...i do have more larger pics if anyone wants to take a look ... Enjoy ![]() -Joe |

Re: Proportion Valve Leak
The web link no longer exists for the pictures. do you still have them? I am having the same problem and would love it if it was only 2 o rings that needed to be replaced. Thanks.
