HVAC blower and headlights intermitten
Hi, I am new to this forum, it really looks like a helpful site. I hava 2002 Grand Prix GT with a 3800 engine. Lately the blower will not come on and the button to turn on the A/C will not light up. Also, the automatic head lights will not work either. After a few seconds then everything will work. I just want fix this before it gets worse. I have changed the blower resistor in the past, but this seems to be a different problem. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: HVAC blower and headlights intermitten
Welcome to AF.
First check the battery negative and positive cables. Make sure the cables and battery terminals are serviceable, clean and tight. Then check the battery for proper output with ignition off and on (engine running). If that is good then you have an ignition switch that has carboned up contacts due to arcing and wear. Common issue with '97-'03 Grand Prixs and your symptoms are consistent with it.

Re: HVAC blower and headlights intermitten
GM had issues with the side post terminals pulling out of their batteries in 02-03, so in addition to checking the cables as bnaylor suggested, inspect the battery for any signs of leakage around the side-post terminals as that is a sign of battery post failure. If everything around the battery checks out, it's time for an ignition switch/harness assembly.

Re: HVAC blower and headlights intermitten
Thanks for responding so fast. Just curious what the ignition switch has to do with it when everything else seems to work fine. I have been looking at wiring diagrams the last couple of days and didn't see that as being in common with my problem. I could not duplicate the same situation by pulling any fuses. thanks.
