91 735il won't start

I'm pretty sure it's a fuel related problem.
It's been sitting for several months, battery had died, I added fresh fuel, new fuel filter, we had the pump replaced a while back and I can hear it in the trunk, checked the relay. I charged the battery a week ago and it started, idled very rough for a minute then smoothed out, I left it idling about 20 minutes. It restarted a couple of times, when I tried to move it, it died and will not start. In desperation I gave it a quick shot of either, it started and died immediately. Every now and then it will sound like its going to start but will not.
Please help!
