I wish to purchase a code scanner for my 1995 Jimmy 4.3 vortec, but i cant tell if its an OBD I or an OBD II ?
how do you tell for sure? no label under hood that Identifies has a 15 pin connecter under dash ,, even though it plugs into my dads OBDII reader fails to make a connection with that reader? does that mean its an OBD I ? any explaination appreciated! thanks bigk3cincy |

Welcome to AF. It is the transition year for OBD1 to 11, the scanner must be compliant for 94 95 years. Actron 9145 is one, there are others.

There are 3 different setups for the 95. Its a transition year from OBD1-2. If you pcm is on top of the collant bottle under the hood then an OBD2 scanner should pic up the codes. If the pcm is under the dash, then its OBD1..
