Strange noise
Hey there everyone...I replaced the auto trans in my 94 530i. I drove it a few miles and now there is a prompt on the insrtrument cluster that says: TRANSMISSION PROGRAM
There is also a whirring noise that I thought to be low PS fluid at first. Not so. I believe it is coming from the transmission. I am not familiar with this car. I bought it and was lied to regarding its condition. I knew the trans was bad, but there are also many other problems that the seller didn't inform me about. I thought the noise sounded like a bolt had backed out from the torque converter rubbing the cover or something, but as I rev the engine, it diminishes to nothing, but returns at idle to about 2k rpm. Also, it doesn't shift promptly when it warms up. Is that a computer problem, and can I hook up a scanner to program it? Can anyone help me? Thxx Marty in Kirksville MO 660-665-6801
