Touch brake and car died

The other day I was driving along in my 2007 Cobalt LS and touched the brake a little, or I may not have, its hard to remember, and the motor died. The radio was still running, but the speedo and tach just went to zero. I stopped the car and put it in park and restarted it and everything was just fine. This has never happened before and not since. Are there any ideas as to what could have been the cause? And I don't need people to tell me to take the car into a mechanic because I know at least that much. Im just looking for ideas as to what it could have been or people that have had the same thing happen to them.

Re: Touch brake and car died

Your GM dealership hates you and rewired your car?

Do you have a car starter? something could be messed up in there as when you push the brake the car is supposed to stop itself.

A remote starter? No I do not have that on my car, its as stock as they get. Could be electrical though. Or the computer. Or both. We will see. At least I still have the warranty...

Re: Touch brake and car died

Yeah good point. They actually know what an LS is about. I know twice as much about my car than the techs there, which scares me a bit. Took them 4.5 hours to replace my intercooler pump, because nobody there knew where/what it was.

My guess it is some electrical gnome you have. Just get it checked out at the dealership, they should be able to solve it. Though I cant say I have heard of this happening before.

Re: Touch brake and car died

It took me awhile to get the car in and a little bit to update here. According to GM goodwrench mechanics there is nothing wrong with my car and they don't know why that happened to me. I am left to believe that somehow the key was bumped into the off position or something....
