1999 Grand Cherokee Ltd - leaking coolant
The 'low coolant' warning came on, so I filled the bottle. 2 days later, the warning came back on.
The bottle was empty, and I noticed coolant dripping off of the driver side skip plate (lower bumper area). I'm taking it in tomorrow and will post back. My jeep is really starting to rack up bills. ________________ problems so far: 1999 JGC Ltd - 61,000 miles brakes and rotors - rotors warp easily. causing swerving braking. that's not safe. stuck windows. dead corroding batteries - had to replace all connectors. heat blows cold on passenger side - haven't addressed this issue yet. clunky transmission - replaced speed sensor. moaning sound on tight turns. |

Re: 1999 Grand Cherokee Ltd - leaking coolant
all of the things on your list are fairly common and not real heavily advanced. you should look for a tech that does side work. when your rotors are warped, front rotors cause a shimmy and shake the wheel(side to side), rear rotors cause a mild jerking, or pulsating back and fourth(front to back pulsation). non of witch are dangerous but can be very anoying.
i am assuming that your heat control is digital/automatic. you will have to figure out if its a head unit problem or a blend door/door actuator. the drivers and passenger side share the same heater core and evaporator the air is controlled by the air management system(head unit) through doors that channel and block hot and cold air. do you here any clicking noises? if so, follow them and that may help pinpoint the problem. hub and wheelbearing assemblies are known to wear out. that could be your problem with the whole "noise while turning" thing. |

Re: 1999 Grand Cherokee Ltd - leaking coolant
The leaking coolant turned out to be from the radiator.
Radiator needs to be replaced - $700 parts and labor. |

Re: 1999 Grand Cherokee Ltd - leaking coolant
My friend you've been had... You should have looked around for a radiator... I found a brand new one for $160. That and another $100 for labor. I know radiators are costly but there are places out there to find cheaper ones. The one I bought also has a lifetime waranty on it...

Re: 1999 Grand Cherokee Ltd - leaking coolant
Well...I guess that's what I get for taking it to the dealership.
I needed it fixed right away and didn't really have time to go radiator/mechanic hunting. |
