v6 swap

Hey guys i have a 94 cavy with a 2.2,I what to swap a v6 in the car.Knowing the 3.1 will fit, would a 3100 or a 3400 fit?Has it been done before? What would i use for a tranny? The only reason i what to do this is my motor is very weak and i thought this would be a good project.Anyway thanks for your info.

Re: v6 swap

The 3100 and 3400 will not fit,has to be the 3.1 with lots of changes. The transmission is differant anf the same with the wiring harness and computer. It is not probally worth doing this and the cheaper way is to replace the 2.2 with another 2.2 or buy another car with a 3.1 which is your decision.

Fail....don't post false information.

Largest fit to date without cutting the engine bay at all... Northstar V8

Another popular swap is the S/c'd 3800 series II motor

Its not a walk in the park direct swap by no means, a little engine sub frame customizing is required, but they both fit just fine.

Re: v6 swap

I though that a 3400 would fit, i mean if 3.1 can fit a 3400 is not that different. Thanks, i knew that of all people you would know.
P.s i also seen, years ago in "Super street" mag that some one put a northstar in a older vw golf, a late 80s body style.

Re: v6 swap

There were 2 3.1s in 1994,the old style 3.1 and the 3100 and I am not telling false info here. The old style 3.1 was put in the cavalier. The Northstar is a piece of junk anyway, known for headgaskets and pulls the threads out of the block when this happens.

Re: v6 swap

Hey guys i will be going to j/y tomorrow to fined z24 body kit and motor.I will just swap in a 3.1 because its easier.I will also be doing a top swap to the motor and other motor work.
This is going to be my winter project, noting to do when its cold and snowing.Anyway I'm sure i will have a ton of questions. I will post pics when i get closer to finishing the car.
Thanks Kyle
