Vacuum ball, does it have another name?

Hi again, having trouble with some sort of vacuum leak, where my A/C will blow half of the air out of the defroster vents while accelerating.

I did a search and came up with http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...itioner+vacuum

which references a "vacuum ball". I'm trying to use AllDataDIY to find out where this is located and a diagram, so I can get started. Can't find "vacuum ball", anyone know of a different name or point in the right direction toward where it is at all?

Thanks again

Whats the model and year. 95 and up is mounted on the driver side of the hood. should be the only thing mounted to the underside of the hood, other then the engine compartment light. It about 6" round and black in color. Hope this helps.

How about cannister?

On my '97, it's on the driver side, attached to the underside of the hood. close to the hinge.

It might be identified as a "Vacuum Cannister", "Vacuum Reservoir," or more colloquially as the "Orb of Power" or "Sphere of Nothingness," among others I've heard.

You can try to replace it with a salvage yard part, or repair whatever damage there may be, or shop for a sparkling new one.

Re: Vacuum ball, does it have another name?

Sorry its taken a while to get back, but my 2000 blazer doesn't have that vacuum ball there. I can't find it anywhere, but I do see a few hoses running into a box attached to the rear right (as you look at it from the front) on the firewall. Think this might be it?

Ok, that's what I got under the hood. It looks like this tubing came off, probably when I was changing the broken hood latch cable. Anyone able to help me figure out where it goes?

Thanks
