Power Door Locks-99 Grand Voyager
99 Grand Voyager - Power Door Locks are not functioning properly. I "arced" the alternator lead (neglected to first disconnect the battery before trying to remove the alternator- Daaah
). Anyway, since then the Power Door Lock switches (on both doors) won't consistently lock or unlock the doors. Sometimes the switches work and other times they don't. The Body Control Module (BCM) is reading my keyless entry "fob". It shuts off the Anti-Theft Stuff but does NOT unlock (or lock) the doors. Have I "screwed up the BCM or what? Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I've checked the fuses and don't really know how to check the relays (or even which one controls the power door locks). (three large relays and two smaller ones in the fuse box under the steering wheel). Can anyone help?

Re: Power Door Locks-99 Grand Voyager
First you could try resetting the BCM either by pulling the IOD fuse in the fuse box by the battery or disconnecting the battery, for 2-3 minutes. There are three relays in the system. The "left front door lock relay (RKE only)", the "door unlock relay", and the "door lock relay" - all on the fuse box you pointed out (the Junction Block). The first two appear to be interchangeable. You could try that and see what happens.
RKE = Remote Keyless Entry (your key fob).

I disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes. Reconnected the battery. The fob & door switches will now unlock the doors, but NO-GO on locking them. I swapped the three relays around (all three are interchangable) with no change. Relay #1, seems to be the Unlock relay. Switches or fob won't work at all if Relay#2 is not installed (I guessing it the RKE relay). Relay Slot #5 (I'm guessing it the unlock relay) doesn't seem to work with any of the relays in it. I've tried them all. The two smaller relays (I mentioned earlier) are in slots #10 & #13 (Don't know what they operate). However, #13 seems to be warm (almost hot) to the touch. Is there a diagram somewhere which will tell me the functions of these three relays (actually all 5), and what slot corresponds to what relay? What's my next option to get the "lock" to work short of replacing the BCM. (It's expensive, and I can live with this way, if I "have to")------MAB_Man |

Re: Power Door Locks-99 Grand Voyager
Try another reset or two.
Here's a schematic: http://www.oplin.org/databases/proxy...%2fframerq.asp Takes a bit to get there: Open the link Type 123456789 in the block Scroll to Cincinatti Library and click submitt (give it some time) Scroll to ARRC click submitt Enter your vans info on next pages Under "Repair Topics" select Wiring Diagrams then Door Locks This won't show relay positions on the panel. I take it your drivers manual is MIA. That should show them.
