new 2 mitsubishi....tips?

hey im relatively new to mitsubishi cars with the ecception of a while back my bro owning a couple eclipse GST's and GSX's,and i just recently got myself a base model 1997 3000GT which im very happy with so far for what it is,although not quite as snappy as my integra(yes im a honda enthusiast as well, almost too much so). i was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to do for some quick horsepower gains for this car?especialy as far as the intake goes, was leasing towards an AEM cold air,but how do i go about putting that on this car with the mass air flow sensor not being on the manifold itself, but being almost right on the airbox at the end of the 'piping'?also was wondering whats a good set of injectors for this car,and if it is possible to run the VR-4 injectors and rail on my N/A base model?please anyone respond either to this thread,or in an email to me directly if you want to, [email protected].

Re: new 2 mitsubishi....tips?

we have a 97 base model as well. we just have a dnp hardpipe and air filter, 3sx downpipe, lightened flywheel, and an aftermarket clutch. and it's pretty peppy. an exhaust would probably wake it up a little more too.

Re: new 2 mitsubishi....tips?

congrats man
i just sold my 1997 sohc this last wed.
deffinatly go with a new intake, but a cold air system really isnt worth it, i just ordered a cone filter and adaptor of ebay for 12$ with shipping and handling and it works just as well as anything.
the more free flowing cone makes it sound like a totally different car as compaired to stock with no exhaust.
as for exaust, if you have no emission laws the 3sx race pipe lets you keep pulling untill redline a little better rather than it kinda dying out at around 5500rpms.
i didnt get too into modding mine, but my guess is Stealthee can help you out a little more

Re: new 2 mitsubishi....tips?

Larger injectors will hurt more than help. The stock 210cc injectors actually make the car run rich from the factory.

Coming from the Honda world you're in for a big surprise as far as out lack of aftermarket goes.

Re: new 2 mitsubishi....tips?

Here's a list.

1. Underdrive pulley
2. EBAY intake.
3. Possible cold air intake... http://www.suthnr.com/garage/mods/custom-intake.html
4. Remove intake resonator
5. Lightweight flywheel
6. Gutted precats
7. Test pipe
8. Maximal Performance Single Shot exhaust. Cheap, and only alternative to Borla for N/A.
9. Oil Change
10. Downpipe
