Completed: Hasegawa Testa Rossa

Completed this one several months ago for Scale Auto expanded review in the October 2008 issue which is just now hitting the mail.

I really enjoyed this building this model, I too had some difficulties w/paint cracking because I didn't glue the lower fender/rocker area strong enough; covered by Scuderia shields. Other than that, it went together without drama, and I really like the finished appearance. The P/E wheels are almost mandatory, if you want to see the brake drums behind them. I intend to build the white one w/blue stripes at a later date.

Color scheme chosen from a Testa Rossa that resides in Switzerland, paint is Tamiya gloss aluminum.

Admittedly I cheated and saw this on your site. Anyway, I really like it. Again Bob, you do not disappoint. I am glad to see you are still gong with the traditional Ferrari color
As always, clean build.

Re: Completed: Hasegawa Testa Rossa

Another one finished before mine. These TR´s are hitting the forum like almost no other model before - maybe except the Tamiya Enzo. Yours looks magnificient. The paint job is marvelous as usual and I really respect your work on the seats. Did you paint them or did you use streched sprue as Klutz did??

Lovely build. Lucky readers!

(since you know the guys at SA, can you try and convince them to send me a subscription to Poland? )

Thanks for the comments!

I did the seat piping using two methods; thin white straight line decals for the straight portions, and a white gel pen for the edges. It was actually easier to do the edges than the straight sections, as those very thin decals aren't the easiest to apply to a thin raised surface. I'd have made a terrible mess if I'd tried to use stretched sprue

I used the seatbelt decals as I had to build the kit OOB, so my next one I'll use "real" aftermarket seatbelt hardware, and I'll open up the intake on the hood and use some mesh for the opening. For OOB, I really like how Hasegawa did the kit. Looks great as-is, and it's also a good canvas for superdetailing. No way would I have had as much fun building my MFH Testa Rossa.
