wont start after water pump change


i cannot figure out why my car wont start can i put the timing belt on backwards?dont have too much tension tensioner is on correctly it wants to start but just wont turn over car has had a complete tune up to include new timing belt what am i doin wrong?

There's no backwards, but the timing of the pulleys when you slip it on is critical. Did you align the timing marks?

Also make sure you reconnected your crank sensor if it's a later model.

there isnt a way 2 put the belt on backwards sounds like ur timeing is off i would double check it the crank pullie has a small notch in it between some of the holes for the balancer pullie and u use the mark on the cam that is rite above the keyway on the cam pullie then rotate the engin over and then check it
