WIP Tamiya Volvo 850 Estate BTCC

Hello, my name is Zoomy and I have been doing modeling for about 3 years. I started on Revell kits and have now moved onto Tamiya kits. This Volvo BTCC kit is the 2nd one I ordered through eBay (first one hasn't come yet). before that I was buying at my local hobby store for about $50-$100 Canadian. I used to use bottled paint and brushes, but my parents finaly alowed me to move to Tamiya spray cans (TS series).

Some WIP pictures:

After painting:

Body.

I have a problem with the body of the Volvo. I sprayed it with TS-26 spray can paint, but there was some moisture on the body and the paint bubbled, and then I tried to wipe it off, and now I have a few streak marks on the roof. How can I fix that? My dad suggested fine sandpaper, then respray. Is it ok to do that? I'm pretty new to Spray paints.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions you have about my modeling.

(EDIT: First ebay model came: http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/102_3250.jpg)

Let the paint dry on the body and very lightly wet sand the marks out with some very fine wet and dry sandpaper, then you can respray.Alternatively if the marks are not too bad they may polish out with a little rubbing compound.
Nice start on the Volvo, an old classic kit!! One of my favorites.

It looks really good, just be careful using flash when taking pictures. Try instead placing the model under the light and take the picture without flash

Jup, that would give your nice work a much better appearance indeed. Keep up your encouraged work...

I had this kit before. Itīs very tempting to do this kind of livery. Man, I love these decal jobs. Fantastic.

Ahh man.. I could KILL for one of these.. Especially the 850 Sedan and since I´m from Sweden it would be really special to have one of these on the shelf

But you´re doing a good job on it. Usual Tamiya quality

Now let´s see some pics of the finished one. And DO NOT forget to post pictures of the JACCS Accord. I´m working on the Castrol Mugen Accord, so it would be nice to see your progress

Re: WIP Tamiya Volvo 850 Estate BTCC

The volvo cost me total $71 from eBay, which was a bit higher then I wanted. there is a sedan there for $69
+ shipping.
I haven't started the JACCS accord, but I'll make a new thread when I do.

Re: WIP Tamiya Volvo 850 Estate BTCC

I must ask, when I paint my Jaccs Accord, can I spray the body colour, then do I spray it with clear before applying decals?
I love this picture: http://www.briansmodelcars.com/forums/photoset.asp
Can I do a layer of clear in between decals? or will that ruin them? and how many coats of paint should I do? (body paint and clear?)

I don't have any modeling tape, but I've been using masking tape and the paint seems to bleed at the edges. is it the tape, or my not sealing it at the edges?

I've also heard things about using a hairdryier on decals? what with that?

Another article in which this guy didn't paint his car prior to putting decals on: http://www.briansmodelcars.com/forum.../227626/page/2

I've also seen black lines around the edges of panels, how is that done?
