84 chev. pickup

i have a 84 chev.pickup with strait 6.
when i go in revers and hit the brakes everything is fine. when in drive and hit the brakes motor stalls out. any ideas ?

The carburetor float level may be set too low or there is water or dirt in the float bowl.
IMO grab a rebuild kit for the carb and rebuild it. Also change the fuel filter.
