Name that part!

Replaced my oil pan crank gaskets last night. Found this in the oil pan. Anyone know what it is? I sure do!

Re: Name that part!

Is it part of the bottom half of the connecting rod?

Re: Name that part!

crankshaft bearing
rod bearing

without anything in the photo for scale, it's not very easy to nail down which of the bottom end bearings it is.

Turbo would typically be a ball bearing - that's a bronze bushing in the photo.

For a turbo's bearing to end up in his oil pan, he's got much bigger problems.

Re: Name that part!

valve spring half collets (valve retaining half thingys that generally put your eye out while trying to remove them) I have a creepy feeling of a dropped valve!

I'm not sure what the other half thing is, not yet anyways I didn't put much thought into this thread to be honest.

Yep! It's an oil float bearing from the broken turbo!

The bearing fell apart. The parts were small enough to travel through the oil return line and end up the bottom of the oil pan.

Thanks for playing!

Oil return goes straight from the turbo to the pan, at least that's what he told me. Also, you'd be surprised at how many cars use sleeve bearing in the turbos. My GTC has BB turbo but the Stealth has sleeves.
