trac off light

My trac off light recently came on in my grand am. Its a 2000. So far this seems to be the only thing. I have been reading at different sites forever and seem to get a million different answers. Is it safe to drive or should i fear it breaking down on me? What is the fix to the problem?

Welcome to AF!

Could be your wheel bearing/hub/speed sensor.
You'll need to get it scanned with an ABS capable scan tool to know what is going wrong. No other way to realy telll.

As long as you dont hear any grinding from the wheels it should be safe to drive.

Re: trac off light

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have it set to get scanned tomorrow bright and early. At times, but not always I was hearing a little but not often enough for concern. It would seem to just up and quit the very next time I drove it. I seem to had a very unlucky day yesterday first my car (looks exactly like yours) and then My hubby took my truck to work and someone took out the passenger side window,, for reasons unknow, probaly cash. Adds up pretty quickly
